90-year-old man runs Fairfield 5K on birthday
(12/07/08) NORWALK - An Orange man ran a 5K marathon Sunday on his 90th birthday.
George Whitney finished the marathon just 27 minutes behind the winner. Whitney joined 106 runners for Fairfield's annual 5K holiday run, which benefits the Fairfield Police Department's Toys for Tots drive.
Whitney's daughter, along with five other family members, joined him on the run. Despite the cold weather and slippery roads, Whitney says the run was a breeze and he felt no aches or pains.
Everyone says I'm an inspiration, but I just wish I were 80 again!? Whitney says.
